Virtual Health Careers Academy Regulations & Guidelines

The following guidelines are designed to help create a positive, safe, and engaging online learning environment:

• Students are expected to come prepared for all academy activities with the required materials, technology, and a positive attitude.
• Students should log in on time for all scheduled academy sessions, meetings, and events.
• Active participation is required in online group discussions, independent study activities, mentoring sessions, and the completion of all service-learning requirements.
• Students and parents/guardians must grant permission for the Health Careers Program Coordinator to access academic records and, if necessary, collaborate with the student’s school counselor.
• Students must dress appropriately for all virtual meetings (following school dress code guidelines unless otherwise stated).
• Students are expected to listen attentively, show respect for others when they are speaking, and avoid interrupting during online sessions.
• All assignments and projects must be completed and submitted on time.
• Students should demonstrate support, encouragement, and respect toward peers and fellow academy members.
• I promise to be respectful of all issues discussed in the Health Careers Academy and will not repeat, share, or communicate any private or sensitive information shared by my peers or the HCP Coordinator.
• Parents/guardians are encouraged to maintain open communication with students and program coordinators to support academic success.
• Parents/guardians are expected to participate in academy-related activities as needed.

Statement of Waiver and Photo Release Form

I understand that my photograph and comments may be taken and used for publicity purposes. I give permission for my image and statements to appear in local, regional, and statewide publications to help promote the program. I also understand that my comments and photographs may be used in Lowcountry AHEC marketing materials for program recruitment, and that I will not receive any compensation for their use.

By signing, I authorize Lowcountry AHEC to release information from my application and letters of reference as they deem appropriate. I also grant permission for my personal identifiable information to be used for federal, state, and grant tracking and reporting purposes. Additionally, I give explicit permission for Lowcountry AHEC, its regional sites, and other sponsoring agencies to use my image in photography, video, websites, or printed materials.
