Mission: South Carolina AHEC builds and supports the healthcare workforce South Carolina needs for every community to have access to diverse, high-quality, patient-focused care.

Our Goals and Objectives

Health Careers Program (HCP)

• Facilitate a coordinated, statewide approach for increasing the number and diversity of students entering the health professions pipeline in South Carolina.

Health Professions Student Program (HPS)

• Increase the supply and improve the distribution of primary care providers and other healthcare professionals through recruitment and retention programs.
• Foster the development of health professionals who are clinically competent and responsive to the needs of communities.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

• Enhance the knowledge, skills and competencies of healthcare professionals in South Carolina (specifically the 12 counties of the Lowcountry AHEC region) to meet the needs of our state’s population.
